James Dean’s final film is a powerful, groundbreaking tale of teenage delinquency and generational conflict. Although Dean is the undeniable star of the movie, Griffith Observatory has a major role as the key location and currently displays a bust of Dean to mark this connection. The 1955 classic film will be introduced by E. J. Stephens, Hollywood historian and co-author of “Griffith Park (Images of America).” Rebel Without A Cause, which will be shown in 35mm, was directed by the legendary Nicholas Ray and co-stars Natalie Wood and Sal Mineo. Because of mature subject matter, parental discretion is advised.
