10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tues.-Sun. through Nov. 1. Gyotaku prints were conceived in mid-19th century Japan as a way to record impressive fishing catching. They also represent vibrant tributes to the struggle, and the respect, between man and the fish that they catch. Dwight Hwang is one of the last practicing artist of the traditional Japanese methods involving semi and washi (ink and paper). This exhibit showcases his remarkable works, which reveals a tenderness and reverence for both the fish that he is immortalizing and the legacy of the gyotaku craft.
