The Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County is launching its first-ever online exhibition, a kid-friendly selection of insect macrographs pulled from NHMLAC’s groundbreaking Biodiversity Science: City and Nature (BioSCAN) research project. The captivating photographs, captured unconventionally via a Keyence microscope, inspire wonder and showcase the beauty and diversity of these “minute Angelenos.” This fun and engaging exhibition is a great way to engage kids while at home right now. The exhibit features zoom in/out capabilities for the high definition photographs, a soothing soundscape based on L.A. insects, and an interactive map where visitors can see examples of where different insects were found. Additional at-home offerings for kids include activities such as building a bee hotel and starting an insect journal. Check it out here beginning May 15!
