Each summer, LA Opera offers a two-week, in-depth camp for ages 9-17, sponsored by the Opera League of Los Angeles. Camp culminates with fully staged public performances at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre (4800 Hollywood Blvd.L.A.). Admission is free.
This year, LA Opera Camp presents “The White Bird of Poston,” an opera set in a Japanese internment camp during World War II that tells the story of a special friendship between two teens – one Japanese American and the other Native American.
Though camp registration is closed, free tickets to the performances will be available beginning at 10 a.m. July 15 ($1 handling fee per order, four-ticket limit per household, subject to availability). Performances are at noon and 2 p.m. Aug. 9 and 10.
Reserve your tickets online at www.laopera.org or by phone at 213-972-8001.
