The Joy Maker Challenge Donates 2,000 Toys to L.A. Kids in Need

On Dec. 6, cast members of NBC’s “Parenthood,” generationON celebrity youth ambassadors, the office of Mayor Eric Garcetti, the office of Congressman Adam Schiff, and Assembly member Jimmy Gomez participated in an annual toy giveaway of 2,000 toys in L.A.’s Echo Park neighborhood. The toy drive benefitted more than 1,200 local families in support of The Joy Maker Challenge from generationOn and Hasbro.

While toys were being handed out to parents by cast members of “Parenthood,” youth volunteers helped kids and teens create holiday cards for senior citizens and patients of L.A. children’s hospitals. Kids also enjoyed to story time and visits with Santa.

Organized by 13-year-old “Parenthood” actor Xolo Mariduena and his mother, The Joy Maker Challenge from generationOn and Hasbro Inc. connects students to hands-on volunteer service projects during the holiday season. Hasbro will donate a toy or game to Toys for Tots – up to $1 million worth. Students and classrooms who participate can register their volunteer work at through Dec. 19, entering them for a chance to receive grants for their school.
