Juneteenth has long been celebrated as a day that represents freedom and liberation within the African American community. On June 19, 1866, the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation was enacted in Texas, the last confederate state. Whether you are celebrating Juneteenth with your children, or want to educate them about the holiday, books are a great place to start.
