After closing their doors for over a year, the Autry Museum reopens to the public Tuesday, April 6 with three new onsite exhibitions. Autry Museum members have access to the museum beginning Tuesday, March 30.

Beginning March 30, the Autry will debut “Masters of the American West,” a limited engagement exhibition open through April 11, which features select works available for purchase online, and “When I Remember I See Red: American Indian Art and Activism in California,” an exhibition featuring Native California artists. Later in April, “What’s Her Story: Women in the Archives” will open alongside permanent core gallery “Art of the West.”

With the reopening of their physical space, the Autry will continue to offer their online offerings, which help tell the diverse stories of the American West.

The museum is offering free admission through April 18 with advance ticket reservations. Check the museum website for tickets and visitor information, including COVID-19 safety precautions.

The California African American Museum (CAAM) adds to the growing list of Los Angeles museums reopening this spring. CAAM reopens March 27, with five exhibitions featuring work never been seen in person by the public.

The exhibition “Sanctuary” allows visitors to enjoy recently acquired works from artists Sadie Barnette, April Bey, Carla Jay Harris, Lyle Ashton Harris, Janna Ireland, Adia Millett, Yinka Shonibare, Gary Simmons, and Sam Vernon, which will remain in the permanent collection at the Los Angeles museum.

Other exhibitions include local artist Sula Bermúdez-Silverman’s “Neither Fish, Flesh, nor Fowl,” running through May 2, “Nikita Gale: PRIVATE DANCER,” running through May 9, “Men of Change: Power.Triumph.Truth.,” running through May 30 and “Enunciated Life,” running through Aug. 15. With the museum reopening, public programs will remain virtual.

Although the museum is still free to the public, reservations are required and capacity is limited to 25 percent. You can reserve your tickets here.

Due to COVID-19 safety precautions masks, social distancing, and temperature checks are required upon entry. Also note the bag check is closed and no large bags are allowed.
