The Better Bike Share Partnership Mini-Grant Program recently awarded BikeLA and Bicycle Transit Systems, in partnership with Metro Bike Share, a grant to promote and increase bike share ridership in L.A. to underrepresented riders — specifically, women, seniors, Latinx/Hispanics and students. Four 90-minute, no-cost classes will invite those often left out of cycling to experience its joys. Instructors will teach bike-safety education and lead demonstrations on how to use bike share. The program will include meals from a local business, a helmet, a 30-Day Metro Bike Share pass and the opportunity to participate in a group ride.
BikeLA is a membership-based non-profit organization that works to make all communities in L.A. County healthy, safe, equitable and fun places to ride a bike. BikeLA envisions healthy, vibrant communities signified by cleaner air and quieter streets where people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds can ride their bikes safely and conveniently.
Metro Bike Share makes bikes available 24/7, 365 days a year in Downtown L.A., Central L.A., Hollywood, North Hollywood, Westwood and the Westside.
