Revenge Of, a new comic book and pinball shop, has landed in L.A.’s Glassell Park neighborhood. The owners describe Revenge Of as a haven for folks seeking a guided entry into the pop-culture zeitgeist. A walk through its doors is an entry into the worlds of fantasy, science fiction, monsters and themes that challenge the status quo. 

In addition to a curated inventory of pinball machines and comics, the shop provides opportunities for people to participate in discussions, challenge fellow pin-heads and check out the latest products the pop market has to share. 

Partners include veteran television executive Joseph Kuntz Jr., Jeff Eyser and Joe Myers of the Los Angeles-based set design and fabrication company FTB.DESIGN, who created Revenge Of as their first venture into retail. 

“We’ve spent so many years helping our clients bring their visions to life that it was important for us to take a step back and allow our imaginations to run wild,” Eyser says. “We wanted to create a space filled with all the things we love and a space we could really share and give back to the community.”

Kuntz says the owners wanted people to enjoy both the nostalgia of their childhoods and discovery of items and experiences they’ve never had, “whether that’s a classic film, a new comic series or a collectible that they can get for themselves or for someone else to enjoy.”

Myers sees the shop as a perfect marriage of stories and community. “Stories are the collection of lessons learned, dreams shared and warnings shared with those we value and trust: our community,” he says. “Revenge Of hopes to foster these communal aspects and create a safe place for people to make memories, learn from others and share important things with everyone.”

Revenge Of has partnered with Verdugo Bar and neighboring businesses to develop a summer party series that will include food trucks and other vendors. The parties will take place every third Saturday this summer: May 21, June 18, July 16 and Aug. 20.
