This year’s Pixar Fest kicked off at Disney’s California Adventure with a lot of sunshine and a parade called “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!”
During the parade, familiar Pixar pals danced to an anthem designed just for the occasion. “We wanted to go into this parade with a message [that] friendship matters, friendship is a great thing and when we have friends we are better together,” says Robin Trowbridge, show director at Disney Live Entertainment. The parade featured new floats, including “Turning Red,” Luca,” “Soul,” “The Pixar Lamp” and the oldie-but-goodies “Toy Story” and “The Incredibles.”
Taste buds are not excluded from enjoying the festivities, as there are six marketplaces featuring Pixar-themed delights. Some of the notable mentions are The Jolly Holiday Bakery, which will feature a “Luca”-inspired parfait. Rancho Del Zocalo has a Marigold tres leches cupcake, and the Carnation Cafe will have the fried bologna sandwiches inspired by “Up.” There will also be 50 Pizza Planet trucks.
Pixar Fest created a truly immersive experience with other exciting additions, including Club Pixar. Here, the young and the not-so-young can learn dances taken from scenes in “WALL-E” and “Up.” All ages can enjoy a PixarPals Playtime Party at Disney’s Fantasyland Theater. Kids can make crafts and take photos with Pixar characters.
When you need a break, there is a “Short Stop” area where you can watch Pixar shorts and play games. In the evening, get wowed by “Together Forever, A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular” with new pyrotechnic enhancements for greater detail and color.
The projection characters even interact with onlookers down Main Street. Pixar Fest will run through Aug. 4.
