Ring in 2020 as a family on New Year’s Eve – or even New Year’s Eve day.
Preserve your little one’s early bedtime with a Noon Year’s Eve celebration. The party at The Children’s Museum at La Habra (www.lhcm.org), from 10 a.m.-noon, includes DJ music, themed crafts and a balloon drop at noon for $12. Kidspace Children’s Museum (www.kidspacemuseum.org) in Pasadena recommends arriving early for its event, which runs from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Kids can get party hats and noisemakers, dance to music and participate in a noontime countdown for $14.
If your kids can stay up later, the family-geared New Year’s Eve Musical Revue at Santa Monica Playhouse (www. santamonicaplayhouse.com) serves up buffet supper, an all-new lighthearted musical revue, party favors and a sparkling apple juice toast beginning at 6 p.m. $59.50 adults, $39.50 ages 12 and younger. A dinner buffet also is part of the Family New Year’s Eve party from 6-9 p.m. at the L.A. Zoo (www.lazoo.org). Admission of $74 adults, $49 ages 2-12 includes Zoo Lights admission, games, carousal ride, a dance party and a toast (champagne or sparkling apple cider) to a live broadcast of the Times Square ball drop.
The free New Year’s Eve Glow Party Celebration from 7 p.m.-midnight at Burton Chace Park in Marina del Rey (www.visitmarinadelrey.com) offers DJs, dancing and food trucks – plus east and west coast New Year’s countdowns with fireworks at 8:59 and 11:59 p.m.
A new year also means it’s Tournament of Roses Parade time. Get a pre-parade-peek at the floats’ final prepping for $15 Dec. 28-31 at Rosemont Pavilion. Watch marching bands drill during Bandfest Dec. 29-30 at Jackie Robinson Stadium for $15, and see equestrians practice at Equestfest Dec. 29 at the L.A. Equestrian Center in Burbank for $20-$45.
