Teenage Drama Workshop

Teenage Drama Workshop (TADW) is a six-week immersive summer program for students between the ages of 11 – 18. For the past 63 years, TADW has been held on the campus of California State University Northridge. Our goal is to teach not only theatre arts but the importance of ensemble and team work through our intensive classes and productions. Over the course of six weeks, students experience what it’s like to collaborate with industry professionals and create live theatre. This year we are traveling back in time (5000 years ago) to discover the origins of these two brothers in Marvel Comics’ Hammered: A Thor and Loki Play. Then, we’ll travel to Arendelle to perform the classic story of Disney’s Frozen Jr.

For the past 63 years, TADW has been held on the campus of California State University Northridge. Over the course of six weeks, students experience what it’s like to collaborate with industry professionals and create live theatre. This year we are traveling back in time (5000 years ago) to discover the origins of these two brothers in Marvel Comics’ Hammered: A Thor and Loki Play. We offer winter and summer workshops for high-achieving high school students interested in pursuing a career in medicine or related fields, such as biomedical research, drug development, pharmacy or nursing. Our summer camps include Molecular Biology of Cancer, Molecular Neuroscience, Molecular Immunology, Molecular Biology of Aging, Bioinformatics of Cancer and Biomedical Research. Through engaging lectures and hands-on laboratory classes, students learn normal molecular and cellular biology, and then learn how these normal processes are distorted during the development of disease. To conclude the workshop, students use what they have learned to create an original research project on a gene of their choice. More broadly, workshop attendees make friends from around the world, strengthen their academic skills, and experience college dorm life in a safe environment.
