A team of very special “grime fighters” turned out Aug. 13 to tidy up at Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA. And the results were just super.
Building window washers dressed as Batman, Captain America, Spiderman and Wonder Woman – all from the hospital’s window-washing vendor, Sunland Window Cleaning – descended on their cleaning platform from the hospital roof down to the fifth-floor outdoor Chase Child Life terrace, where they joined pediatric patients and families for photo opportunities and fun.
The window washers then went back to the roof and descended down the east-facing wall so that pediatric patients inside isolation rooms could view the grime-fighters through their fifth-floor hospital room windows.
Sunland Window Cleaning started “Superhero Day at UCLA” last year, donating its time and providing the costumes. The cleaners enjoy bringing some super smiles to the faces of the children, many of whom are coping with serious, complex illnesses—such as organ transplants, cancer and congenital heart disease—and are hospitalized for weeks to months at a time.
