Like many preschoolers, my daughter is enamored with “Bluey,” the popular animation series from Australia that follows a family of Blue Heelers, 6-year-old Bluey, her little sister Bingo and their parents Chilli and Bandit. And like many parents of preschoolers, I thoroughly enjoy the 7-minute episodes packed with humor and heart. So, when we got the chance to preview the new Bluey x CAMP immersive adventure, our whole family was just as excited.
From Nov. 6 through Feb. 19, L.A. “Bluey” fans can experience the iconic Heelers’ home inside CAMP’s flagship store at Westfield Century City. Groups of 12-14 people are guided through a secret passage, which leads to a 5,000-square-foot recreation of Bluey’s house. The Bluey x CAMP experience includes a self-led scavenger hunt, a two-story pillow fort, cardboard box castle with slides, dance party with CAMP Counselors in Bluey’s playroom and more. Families familiar with the show will notice hidden easter eggs from favorite episodes, like a refrigerator that beeps, garden gnomes and Bingo’s beloved Floppy.
We enjoyed story time on Bluey’s bed, coloring in the backyard and dressing up in pink boas. I loved that the children could go back and forth between rooms as much as they wanted, so it really felt like we were hanging out at Bluey’s house. At the end of the hour-long immersive experience, we walked through a hidden doorway that led us to a grand finale meet and greet with Bluey and Bingo themselves. The look of pure joy on my daughter’s face was priceless.
Bluey x CAMP is recommended for ages 3-8. Headphones and sunglasses are available for people with light and sound sensitivities. $34 and up for ages 2 and up.
