Common Threads is a series of customized art workshops for children ages 5-14. Nov. 9 is an “Introduction to Painting”. Nov. 16 is an “Introduction to 3D Printing & Photography”. Nov. 23 is an “Introduction to Ceramics & Sculpture”. Dec. 7 is an “Introduction to Screen Printing & Collage” and Dec. 14 will be an exhibition, where students will give live demonstrations of how they’ve honed their creative process. They’ll get to display and share their hard work with friends and family over light refreshments. Common Threads is seeking 10-15 young people (ages 5 to 14 years of age), including children with intellectual and/or developmental challenges, to attend these two-hour pilot workshops. Organized by United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles, these workshops are customized and inclusive, and various supports will be provided, however we ask parents or guardians to stay on-site to ensure children have access to the resources they need during this two-hour session. Interested artists will have an opportunity to work with adaptive art tools during the workshop sessions. Registration for single workshops must be done two days before the desired workshop. For more information, contact UCPLA’s Program Services Manager Nicholle Cash at ncash@ucpla.org or (818) 782-2211 ext. 545.
