Flintridge Bookstore & Coffeehouse stocks its Small Business Saturday celebration with a full schedule of guest authors, artists, live music, poetry readings, and activities for all ages. Scheduled guest storytime authors start with Tommy Dickey, a Professor Emeritus, Oceanography at UCSB who wrote “The Therapy Dog Adventures of the Great Pyrenees Ted E. Bear and Friends.” You can meet Dickey and his majestic dogs from 10:30 am-noon, and learn about dog safety; the author’s profits from sales will be donated to therapy dog organizations. From noon-2 p.m., Matt Cubberly shares his book, “Charlotte, Wander On,” about a young girl, who guided by only a simple book, braves a world of monsters to save her brother. Between 2-4 p.m., children can meet author/teacher Heather Artura, whose book “Grammar Hound’s Mystery in Sentence City” lets kids learn the first three rules of writing a sentence by following three characters as Grammar Hound leads them from clue to clue. There will also be a Where’s Waldo contest throughout the day as well as giveaways – including a drawing to win a tote bag filled with children’s books!
