Men, women, children, and canines can all participate in this afternoon’s Halloween colorful contests. At 2:25 p.m., humans can take part in the free Southern California Kids and Adults Halloween Costume Parade and Contest. But the day’s high-point is the Haute Dog Howl’oween Parade, which starts around 2:30 p.m. More than 500 costumed dogs will promenade down a few blocks in front of a panel of judges and a few thousand gawkers. The winner will get dog food for a year. $10/advance for each dog who enters the parade. There is no charge for humans to walk in the parade (with or without costumes and with or without pets). It’s free to spectate; however, front-row chairs can be rented on-site for $5 cash or $10 reserved in advance. Visit the website for registration information. Event proceeds go to local pet charities. The afternoon will also include a vendor and pet adoption fair that will run from 12:30-4:30 p.m.
