10 a.m.-8 p.m. Mon.-Thur.; 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Fri.-Sat., 1-5 p.m.; Sun. Nov. 8-Jan. 26. The exhibit “Our Voice: Celebrating the Coretta Scott King Illustrator Awards”, featuring more than 100 images honored by the award, will make its West Coast debut at the downtown Central Library’s Getty Gallery. Presented annually by the American Library Association (ALA), the awards honors outstanding African American authors and illustrators of books for children and young adults that demonstrate an appreciation of African American culture and universal human values. The awards, which have become one of the most distinguished honors in children’s literature, pay homage to King’s courage and determination in working for peace and world brotherhood, while commemorating the life and civil rights work of her husband, the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
