1 p.m. Nov. 9-10. In this joyous, heartfelt adventure, a young girl named Vita takes a magical, musical journey to unravel the true meaning of Día de los Muertos. On her travels, she meets a charismatic candy skeleton called Sugar Skull, dances with ancient ancestors, sings with a sorrowful sorceress, escapes the trickster Chaneques, and even meets the famous Catrina Calavera. This colorful stage production features Mexico Beyond Mariachi, a company of talented musicians and dancers who are rooted in the rich, tuneful Día de los Muertos traditions. Before the performances, show-goers are invited to a Día de los Muertos celebration that includes special visual arts projects, a photo op, and other fun actitivites exploring the history and traditions behind this festive holiday.
