This free, family-friendly event has something for everyone. Kids’ hands-on activities include mini-solar cars to build and race; a CReATE studio with recycled materials; tinkering with the Discovery Center, floral photography/arrangement workshops, Cub Scouts with a rain gutter regatta and WM Recycling “Touch-a-Truck.” Learn about the latest electric cars on-site from local dealers; Channel Islands Restoration, kelp forests from National Park Service; condor recovery from the Fish & Wildlife Service; local wetlands from Resource Conservation District; plant-based cooking, trails/hiking information, the Triunfo Water and Sanitation District, Girl Scouts, and high school clubs. Captain Carl’s Living Tide Pool, Education Through Nature has reptiles, arachnids, insects, and a hedgehog, while Wings of Discovery will bring non-releasable birds, including owls, along with discussing research related to the UN Sustainable Planet Friendly food by OPUSD Kitchens will be available for purchase (find menu at https://www.oakparkusd.org/cms/lib/CA01000794/Centricity/Domain/37/Super%20Saturday%20Menu.pdf).
