Families looking for future mountain getaways have two new options to put on their radar. Field & Stream Lodge Co. has announced plans for new lodges in Big Bear and Bend, Ore., both targeting openings in 2028.
The hospitality brand, which debuted in Bozeman, Mont., is expanding with two properties designed to connect travelers with outdoor recreation while offering comfortable accommodations.
A New Basecamp in Big Bear
About two hours from Los Angeles, the planned 148-room Big Bear lodge will be a renovation of the former Holiday Inn Resort on Village Drive, within walking distance of Big Bear Lake. Plans include a restaurant, meeting space, suites and an outdoor pool and hot tub.
The location offers year-round possibilities for families, from skiing and snowboarding at Big Bear Mountain Resort in winter to boating, mountain biking and hiking in warmer months.
Riverfront Adventures in Oregon
The 151-room Bend lodge will occupy the former Shilo Inn along the Deschutes River, less than two miles from downtown. The area offers fishing, craft breweries and outdoor recreation, with skiing and mountain biking at Mt. Bachelor and climbing at Smith Rock nearby.
Both properties are being developed by Field & Stream Lodge Co., founded by Starwood Capital Group and AJ Capital Partners. Additional details about accommodations, amenities and opening dates are expected closer to their debuts.
