While a relaxing day at the spa can be a great solo break for a busy mom, it can also be a fun way to spend one-on-one time with your child. We found a fantastic group of L.A. spas that offer special packages for moms and kids to enjoy together, or services for kids to enjoy while Mom takes advantage of an adult treatment. So go ahead, bond with your little one – and get your nails done!
Spa Le La
This clean, bright space in Studio City offers $10 kiddie manicures, but more importantly, they have childcare. Enjoy a nail service with your little one, then scoot them off to play in the childcare area while you get an extra treatment. Choose from an infrared sauna, bath and even a nap room (for adults!) in addition to nail services, facials, massage and waxing. They also offer specialized pre- and postnatal services. Childcare is free for the first child (ages 6 months to 9 years) and $6 per hour for the second, and the kids’ corner is staffed by pros. You even get a buzzer that will go off if your child needs you. Get the scoop at spalela.com.
Olive & June
They don’t offer dedicated children’s services, but popular nail chain Olive & June does welcome kids. A manicure for kiddos costs $15, and it’s $30 for a pedicure. “We love when littles come to the salon, especially for special occasions,” says spokesperson Katie Clifford. “It’s so fun!” For mamas, manis start at $20 for natural nails and run up to $40 for gels or an organic manicure. Olive & June has locations in Pasadena, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills. Visit olivejune.com for more details.
The Spa at Beverly Wilshire
If you’re looking for a luxe spa experience, look no farther than the Beverly Wilshire hotel in Beverly Hills. Kids ages 12 and up can enjoy massages, facials and other treatments alongside their parents. A Superstar Mani Pedi will run you $120, but you won’t get cookie-cutter service here. “We really do customize everything,” says spokesperson Lauren Dutton-Breen. “We’re always very happy to hand-tailor anything for our little superstars.” Find out more at fourseasons.com/beverlywilshire/spa.
Yen’s Nails
This nail salon near Joan’s on Third restaurant in Beverly Grove has adorable animal-themed kids’ spa chairs. A children’s manicure and pedicure costs $15; the adult version costs $30. Note that Yen’s Nails deals in cash only and has no website. The salon is located at 8306 W. 3rd St., L.A.
