Thanksgiving 2025 lands on Thursday, November 27, but there are plenty of ways to celebrate turkey day all week long. From annual family-friendly turkey trots to Thanksgiving-themed story times, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite ways to honor this time of togetherness in Los Angeles.
Thanksgiving Storytime
9:30 a.m., Nov. 14 | Venice Farmer’s Market
Join Venice – Abbot Kinney Memorial Branch Library at the Venice Farmer’s Market for a joyful Thanksgiving-themed story time with special guest Ian Rosen, West LA Children’s Librarian, and Michele Robinson, Librarian from the Venice Branch Library! Celebrate the season of gratitude with songs, stories, and a special craft. More info.
Thanksgiving Cookie Class
7 p.m. – 9 p.m., Nov. 14 | Castle & Crown
In this 2-hour class with Oh, Sugar!, you’ll practice piping with Royal Icing, learn decorating tips and tricks and cover the general concepts around dough and icing. All materials will be provided. Recommended for ages 12 and up. More info.
Farm Sanctuary’s Annual Celebration for the Turkeys
8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., Nov. 15 | Farm Sanctuary
This event brings together inspiring stories of transformation, meaningful time with rescued farm animals, hands-on enrichment activities for our residents and a festive vegan holiday feast. Together, you’ll honor the turkeys and other rescued animals who call Farm Sanctuary home, celebrate the powerful impact of our movement and explore new ways to take action—including symbolically adopting a turkey this holiday season.
Ticket includes quality time with the animal residents during open sanctuary time, creating one-of-a-kind enrichments for their turkey residents, celebrating together as the turkeys indulge in a delicious feast of pumpkin pie, squash, cranberries, and kale salad during the annual Feeding of the Turkeys Ceremony and a delicious, vegan holiday feast. Fall Family Storytime

Come and hear stories about Thanksgiving and gratitude and then make a colorful Thankful tree craft. For ages 5 – 12 with parent or caregiver. More info.
Thankful Tunes: A Thanksgiving Concert for Kids
4 p.m., Nov. 19 | West Los Angeles Regional Branch Library
Celebrate the season with an interactive Thanksgiving music concert featuring beloved performer Nathalia Palis. Families and kids will sing, dance, and give thanks together in this fun-filled musical fest. Join West Valley Regional Branch Library for a joyful blend of gratitude and great tunes! More info.
CrEATive Plate Kids Cooking Class
3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., Nov. 20 | Woodland Hills Branch Library
Get ready for Thanksgiving with this unique culinary adventure with special guests from CrEATive Plate. CrEATive Plate offers hands-on cooking experiences that educate kids about nutrition and healthy eating, empowering them to make informed decisions for a lifetime. This program will feature a recipe that the kids will help prepare. Ages 5-11. More info.
LA Classic Turkey Trot
8 a.m., Nov. 22 | Griffith Park
The 2nd Annual LA Classic Turkey Trot returns to Griffith Park with a scenic 5K run/walk, as well as a 5-mile and 15K course for those looking to cover more ground. 5K is open to ages 6-85, the 5 miler is open to ages 11-85 and 15K is open to ages 14-85. Strollers are allowed for the 5K course, so bring the baby along! Costumes encouraged. More info.
Thanksgiving Centerpiece Flower Arranging Workshop
6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m, Nov. 24 – 25 | Viola Floral Studio
This Thanksgiving, set a table that’s too pretty to clear. Design a lush autumn centerpiece in a chic rectangular vessel, overflowing with the season’s best blooms. Add in a little styling magic, effortless hosting tips, and a glass (or two) from Divine Vintage—and you’ve got holiday perfection.
Everything is taken care of by Viola Floral Studio team, including fresh flowers, vases, floral cutters, and guided instructions to create one stunning floral arrangement. Thanksgiving Celebration Day
11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Nov. 26 | Pretend City Children’s Museum
In Orange Plaza Pretend City will be having their own pretend Thanksgiving feast. The children will go out into the city and find items that they can bring to the feast! Will they bring napkins? Bowls? Food? The museum will also be having a traditional Native American Hoop Dance Performance. More info.
Turkey Trot Los Angeles
8 a.m. – 12 p.m., Nov. 27 | City Hall Los Angeles
The popular Turkey Day charity run has become a holiday tradition for many Angelenos and helps raise money for those in need through The Midnight Mission. Thousands of runners dressed as Thanksgiving turkeys, pilgrims and pies will start and finish in front of historic Los Angeles City Hall. The route will take them around Grand Park, pass the world-famous Disney Concert Hall, the Broad Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art, and down historic Spring Street, one of the oldest streets in Los Angeles. Turkey Trot Los Angeles has set a goal to raise $100,000 for The Midnight Mission to help those experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles. Participate in the 5k, 10k, or Widdle Wobble for kids and 1-mile Dog Jog for furry companions. Everyone gets a race shirt, sparkly finisher medal, and bib. Registration is now open.
Trot before you gobble! In the spirit of Thanksgiving, this event benefits The Midnight Mission – an amazing organization that offers a path to self-sufficiency to those experiencing homelessness. Create a fundraising team during registration! More info.
Rose Bowl Turkey Trot
8:30 a.m., Nov. 27 | Rose Bowl Stadium
The 8th annual Rose Bowl Turkey Trot continues the tradition of family fun at the Rose Bowl on Thanksgiving Day! Runners, walkers, skippers, and jumpers alike can participate this year by running around the 5K recreational loop at America’s Stadium. A Pasadena family favorite and a Thanksgiving morning tradition, children in strollers and dogs are welcome. More info.
Drumstick Dash
8:30 a.m., Nov. 27 | NoHo Arts District
L.A.’s Largest Thanksgiving 5k/10k run. Fun for all the family and serious runners alike–including lots of freebies, a costume contest, awards and the satisfaction of supporting a worthy cause.
This year the course will take runners, joggers and walkers through the NoHo Arts District, where participants will be greeted by cheering crowds and DJ’s pumping the tunes. All proceeds from this event will help Hope of the Valley provide over 2 million hot meals for homeless men, women and children. More info.
A Gentle Thanksgiving
10 a.m. – 1 p.m., Nov. 27 | The Gentle Barn
The Gentle Barn hosts their annual gentle Thanksgiving, but with a twist. This year’s event is a pre-meal celebration of turkeys. Cuddle turkeys, feed them treats, join The Gentle Barn for sweet treats, and games and celebrate life, love, and liberty with their majestic turkeys. More info.
