We celebrate Independence Day on the 4th of July to commemorate the passage of the Declaration of Independence. The federal holiday has turned into an opportunity to gather with friends, family and community to watch dazzling fireworks, listen to live music, eat delicious barbecue and catch patriotic parades. Whether you live in the valley, on the westside or somewhere in between, we’ve gathered a list of 4th of July fireworks shows across Los Angeles.

July Fourth Fireworks Spectacular with Harry Connick, Jr.

7:30 p.m. Tue., July 2 | Hollywood Bowl

Harry Connick, Jr. first commanded a stage at the age of five, and he’s been blowing audiences away ever since. The Grammy and Emmy winner—not to mention Hollywood Bowl Hall of Famer—and his band lead three thrilling nights of songs, fireworks, and fun, featuring Thomas Wilkins and the LA Phil.

Huntington Beach Independence Day Event

7 a.m. – 9 p.m. Thurs., July 4 | Huntington Beach Pier

Huntington Beach’s annual tradition features a Surf City Run, which includes a Kids Fun Run and Stroller Run, parade and fireworks show.

The Surf City Run 5K begins at 7 a.m. and takes place along the historic route of Main Street and Pacific Coast Highway.

Watch the Fourth of July Parade beginning at 10 a.m. Local businesses, classic cars, the Huntington Beach High School Cheerleaders, the Huntington Beach Mayor, and more put on a show for residents and visitors alike on the Fourth of July. The 2.5-mile route starts on Pacific Coast Highway and makes its way past the Huntington Beach Pier and onto Main Street.

The celebratory tradition of Fireworks Over The Ocean presented by the Mayer Family Foundation will commence at 9 p.m. All beach viewing is open to the public, with limited paid tickets for reserved seating on the pier.

4th of July Celebration at Universal Studios

8 a.m. – 10 p.m. Thurs., July 4 | Universal Studios Hollywood

Celebrate the 4th of July at Universal Studios Hollywood with a dazzling fireworks display, live performances, themed décor and more. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m.

Independence Day on the Back Bay

8 a.m. – 10 p.m. Thurs., Jul 4 | Newport Dunes Resort

Arrive early to set up beach chairs and umbrellas and experience all that Newport Dunes has to offer. Take advantage of the inflatable aquatic park and water sports from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy the views from the beachfront patio at Moe B’s Munchies, open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Save room for a food truck feast featuring a lineup of the region’s favorite food trucks and a full bar from 12 to 9 p.m. Get your groove on just steps away with live music at the Horseshoe Stage featuring hip-hop, R&B, and disco beats by DJ yo-b1 from 3-5 p.m., and a live performance by The Class playing a mix of genres including oldies, classic rock and top 40 hits from 5-8 p.m. Saunter over to the sand to play lawn games while enjoying the music. And enjoy the Independence Day on the Back Bay Fireworks Show at 9 p.m.

City of El Segundo 4th of July Fireworks

10 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. Thurs., July 4 | Recreation Park

Celebrate 4th of July with the City of El Segundo’s annual 4th of July event, which includes daytime events from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. and evening events from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. The fireworks show will start at 9 p.m. following the evening event. The streets will be closed around the park to allow you to safely enjoy all the festivities.

Daytime events will include a group of contests like hula hoop, a water balloon toss, a watermelon eating contest presented by Rotary Club, and a pie eating contest presented by Kiwanis Club. There will also be races consisting of a 3-legged sack race, toddler and youth races, and a diaper derby for crawlers.

Evening events will include live music, food booths, and the fireworks!

Pacific Palisades July 4th Celebration

2 p.m. – 10 p.m. Thurs., July 4 | Palisades Charter High School

Join the Pacific Palisades celebration for their annual parade, beginning at 2 p.m. followed by music and fireworks show at 9 p.m.

Enjoy food trucks and music, participate in a 5K, 10K, patriotic home decorating and kids on bikes contests and more!

Fourth of July Celebration on The Queen Mary

3 p.m. – 10 p.m. Thurs., July 4 | The Queen Mary

Celebrate an all-American 4th of July aboard The Queen Mary and enjoy a fun-filled day of good food, great entertainment, family games, activities, a World War II aircraft flyover, and a spectacular fireworks show. Entertainment includes patriotic performances, dance off contests, giveaways and more.

Fireworks in the City

Nothing says summer traditions like the July 4^th Fireworks Spectacular at the Hollywood Bowl. Join hosts Steve Martin and Martin Short, along with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, July 2-4 for this annual tradition. $27 and up; half off for ages 12 and under. hollywoodbowl.com

A few miles away, catch a movie and fireworks display at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. For the first time, Cinespia will host three nights of fireworks to accompany their signature outdoor screenings, in addition to live DJs, beer and wine, burgers and hot dogs from the grill, concession stand classics and free photobooth. On July 2 catch “The Fast and the Furious,” “Purple Rain” on July 3 and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” on July 4. $45. cinespia.org

For a very L.A. evening, enjoy a baseball game and fireworks display above Dodger Stadium. Catch the Dodgers vs San Diego Padres on July 1 or Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies on July 4, both followed by a spectacular fireworks display. $44 and up. mlb.com

Grand Park’s 4^th of July Block Party returns this summer with family-friendly festivities, including a series of interactive multi-media art works, two stages featuring DJs and musical performances, dancing, food and fireworks display over Jerry Moss Plaza at The Music Center. grandparkla.org

The city of Santa Clarita’s 4^th of July celebrations kick off early in the morning with the annual Pancake Breakfast at 6:30 a.m., 38^th Annual Independence Day Classic 10K at 7 a.m. and Fourth of July Parade at 9 a.m. The festivities culminate with the annual Spirit of America Fireworks Spectacular at 9:20 p.m. FREE. scvparade.com

Oceanfront Fireworks

Spend the holiday weekend on Catalina Island for a chance to catch two fireworks shows. Two Harbors will host their 36^th Annual Children’s Festival with crafts and activities and the 18^th Annual Dinghy Parade on July 2. On July 3 catch a spectacular firework show over Isthmus Cove. Avalon will host the USC Marching Band on July 3 and a Golf Cart Parade, BBQ dinner, live music and fireworks display on July 4. FREE. lovecatalina.com

Celebrate 4^th of July with Marina del Rey’s 20-minute annual fireworks display. Make a dinner reservation at one of the waterfront restaurants, or view the show from anywhere in Marina del Rey. Redondo Beach hosts a few 4^th of July festivities culminating in a fireworks show over the ocean. Celebrate Independence Day at Seaside Lagoon, a family-friendly favorite spot for swimming and playing in the sand. The Lagoon will be open 12 – 10 p.m. with the fireworks show at 9 p.m. Entrance fee is $6 for youth and $8 for adults. redondo.org

A little further south, Huntington Beach hosts one of the largest Independence Day celebrations July 1-4. The event kicks off Friday, July 1 with the Pier Plaza Festival downtown, featuring over 70 food and craft vendors, live entertainment and carnival rides. The holiday weekend culminates on July 4 with the annual Surf City 5K, the Independence Day Parade along Main Street and, of course, a grand finale of fireworks display over the ocean. $25 – $40 for fireworks viewing. surfcityusa.com
