We celebrate Independence Day on the 4th of July to commemorate the passage of the Declaration of Independence. The federal holiday has turned into an opportunity to gather with friends, family and community to watch dazzling fireworks, listen to live music, eat delicious barbecue and catch patriotic parades. Whether you live in the valley, on the westside or somewhere in between, we’ve gathered a list of 4th of July fireworks shows across Los Angeles.
July Fourth Fireworks Spectacular with Harry Connick, Jr.
7:30 p.m. Tue., July 2 | Hollywood Bowl
Harry Connick, Jr. first commanded a stage at the age of five, and he’s been blowing audiences away ever since. The Grammy and Emmy winner—not to mention Hollywood Bowl Hall of Famer—and his band lead three thrilling nights of songs, fireworks, and fun, featuring Thomas Wilkins and the LA Phil.
Huntington Beach Independence Day Event
7 a.m. – 9 p.m. Thurs., July 4 | Huntington Beach Pier
Huntington Beach’s annual tradition features a Surf City Run, which includes a Kids Fun Run and Stroller Run, parade and fireworks show.
The Surf City Run 5K begins at 7 a.m. and takes place along the historic route of Main Street and Pacific Coast Highway.
Watch the Fourth of July Parade beginning at 10 a.m. Local businesses, classic cars, the Huntington Beach High School Cheerleaders, the Huntington Beach Mayor, and more put on a show for residents and visitors alike on the Fourth of July. The 2.5-mile route starts on Pacific Coast Highway and makes its way past the Huntington Beach Pier and onto Main Street.
The celebratory tradition of Fireworks Over The Ocean presented by the Mayer Family Foundation will commence at 9 p.m. All beach viewing is open to the public, with limited paid tickets for reserved seating on the pier.
4th of July Celebration at Universal Studios
8 a.m. – 10 p.m. Thurs., July 4 | Universal Studios Hollywood
Celebrate the 4th of July at Universal Studios Hollywood with a dazzling fireworks display, live performances, themed décor and more. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m.
Independence Day on the Back Bay
8 a.m. – 10 p.m. Thurs., Jul 4 | Newport Dunes Resort
Arrive early to set up beach chairs and umbrellas and experience all that Newport Dunes has to offer. Take advantage of the inflatable aquatic park and water sports from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy the views from the beachfront patio at Moe B’s Munchies, open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Save room for a food truck feast featuring a lineup of the region’s favorite food trucks and a full bar from 12 to 9 p.m. Get your groove on just steps away with live music at the Horseshoe Stage featuring hip-hop, R&B, and disco beats by DJ yo-b1 from 3-5 p.m., and a live performance by The Class playing a mix of genres including oldies, classic rock and top 40 hits from 5-8 p.m. Saunter over to the sand to play lawn games while enjoying the music. And enjoy the Independence Day on the Back Bay Fireworks Show at 9 p.m.
City of El Segundo 4th of July Fireworks
10 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. Thurs., July 4 | Recreation Park
Celebrate 4th of July with the City of El Segundo’s annual 4th of July event, which includes daytime events from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. and evening events from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. The fireworks show will start at 9 p.m. following the evening event. The streets will be closed around the park to allow you to safely enjoy all the festivities.
Daytime events will include a group of contests like hula hoop, a water balloon toss, a watermelon eating contest presented by Rotary Club, and a pie eating contest presented by Kiwanis Club. There will also be races consisting of a 3-legged sack race, toddler and youth races, and a diaper derby for crawlers.
Evening events will include live music, food booths, and the fireworks!
Pacific Palisades July 4th Celebration
2 p.m. – 10 p.m. Thurs., July 4 | Palisades Charter High School
Join the Pacific Palisades celebration for their annual parade, beginning at 2 p.m. followed by music and fireworks show at 9 p.m.
Enjoy food trucks and music, participate in a 5K, 10K, patriotic home decorating and kids on bikes contests and more!
Fourth of July Celebration on The Queen Mary
3 p.m. – 10 p.m. Thurs., July 4 | The Queen Mary
Celebrate an all-American 4th of July aboard The Queen Mary and enjoy a fun-filled day of good food, great entertainment, family games, activities, a World War II aircraft flyover, and a spectacular fireworks show. Entertainment includes patriotic performances, dance off contests, giveaways and more.
