Family-friendly San Diego attractions get ready to open their doors for a summer of fun.
LEGOLAND California Resort
A new LEGO Ferrari arrives at LEGOLAND’s newest attraction LEGO Ferrari Build and Race, opening May 12. The interactive attraction gives future builders and car enthusiasts a chance to sit inside the life-size Ferrari F40 made out of more than 358,000 LEGO elements. LEGO Ferrari Build and Race will feature other interactive zones, including a build and test area and digital racetrack for guests to digitally race their own LEGO Ferrari against other cars. legoland.com
Campland on the Bay
Summer fun is back at San Diego’s family-friendly resort campground, Campland on the Bay, beginning Memorial Day weekend. Campland Rocks, a live entertainment series, returns Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m., May 27-30. Campers are invited to the Central Park lawn to enjoy live music by Southern California’s top tribute bands. The series continues Fridays and Saturdays throughout the summer. Campland’s popular Giant Water Slide, a 27-foot inflatable slide, opens over the holiday weekend and on select days throughout the summer. Del Mar Racetrack
The seaside racetrack welcomes back fans on Opening Day, Friday, July 22 for its 83rd year of racing. This summer will mark a return to full capacity in the grandstand for the first time since 2019. Opening Day will feature long-standing traditions like the Opening Day Hat Contest and high-end stakes racing like the $1000,000 Oceanside Stakes. Other fan favorite events include the Equine Art Show on Aug. 6, Del Mar Wine Fest on Aug. 13 and Del Mar Taco & Beer Festival on Aug. 20. Family Fun Day on Sept. 4 will feature free attractions like face painting and kid-friendly games.
