For over 75 years, UNICEF has been giving their all to support the world’s most vulnerable children–through their annual Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign and other donation platforms. Beginning this September, UNICEF will team up with DreamWorks Animation for Gabby’s Kid Power Challenge, a program that helps make a positive impact on children worldwide. Gabby is the main character on the Netflix TV Show “Gabby’s Dollhouse,” which focuses on working together, learning from mistakes, solving problems and being reliable for each other.
Through this new challenge, kids can watch Gabby’s Kid Power Challenge videos that will teach them valuable lessons on social and emotional well-being. As kids make their way through these videos, children will learn that they can help ensure that the rights of kids around the world are upheld.
“Not only do kids get to have some fun with new crafts, dance moves, and costume parties, but they’ll also be getting to choose how they want to help. Kids can be pretty powerful and this is a fun way for everyone to get involved,” says actress Laila Lockhart Kraner who plays Gabby in the show.
The more videos watched during the challenge, the more kitty hearts will be added to a kitty bank on the Gabby’s Kid Power Challenge website. Once the bank is full, families can decide which area of UNICEF’s work they would like to see DreamWorks’s donation support.
Some of the many areas of support include:
- Food packs for children with severe acute malnutrition
- School supplies for children who can’t afford the basic back-to-school needs
- Blankets for children and families who have been displaced from their homes
The program will run from Sept. 6 through World Children’s Day on Nov. 20.
