If you or your kids are into slime, you’re in luck because Sloomoo Institute recently opened here in Los Angeles.
Sloomoo Institute proclaims to be America’s No. 1 slime experience, an immersive world that taps into a sense of escape, thanks to slime and hands-on play.
A cornucopia for the senses, Sloomoo Institute brings hand-crafted, artisanal slime and #satisfying moments other to life through dozens of textures, delicious scents, soothing ASMR and wondrous sights in a way that delights not just kids, but the kid in all of us.
Sloomoo co-founders and best friends Karen Robinovitz and Sara Schiller both personally experienced the healing power of slime and sensory play while going through some of life’s biggest challenges. The duo dropped their careers to become adult slimers, launching the Sloomooverse in 2019 to bring the love they found to everyone.
“More than a kid’s toy, we both found slime healing, therapeutic and so much fun — it triggers connections to others and yourself,” the founders say.
Sloomoo has five flagship locations in New York City, Atlanta, Chicago, Houston and here in Los Angeles, with more cities to come. Each venue hosts up to 30,000 visitors a month, and celebs have caught on too. Gigi Hadid, Chance the Rapper, Selena Gomez, Uma Thurman, Khloe Kardashian, Gal Gadot, Kerry Washington, Connie Britton, Neil Patrick Harris, Eli Manning, Robert De Niro, Chance the Rapper, Jimmy Kimmel, Natalie Portman, Shakira, Tracy Morgan, Jessica Alba, Priyanka Chopra and more have visited.
The September opening of Sloomoo Los Angeles, across the street from The Grove, is a milestone for Karen and Sara, who worked to fulfill their mission to spread slimefulness from coast to coast.
“Expanding to this amazing city is a dream come true for us, especially with Los Angeles being the nucleus for entertainment,” said Karen. “We want to continue sparking joy and creativity across the country, and we are excited to share our world of wonder with the diverse and dynamic community of nearly four million Angelenos and 49+ million visitors that Los Angeles welcomes annually.”
Sloomoo Institute’s over-the-top, contemporary experience is full of wow – think a giant slime slingshot, a lake of hundreds of gallons of cloud slime, a DIY bar to customize your own slime (every ticket includes an 8-ounce slime to take home), a sonic journey of Tibetan singing bowls, scentscapes and sensory walls, among others.
Sloomoo Institute is also committed to inclusivity of people of all ages and abilities. To accommodate neurodiverse guests, the Institute proudly offers sensory hours that tailor the experience by turning down the volume and limiting ticket availability to make people with heightened sensitivities more comfortable in the venue. Sensory hours are typically held the third Thursday morning of every month, and Sloomoo provides noise-canceling headphones and nose plugs at all times for anyone who is sensitive, along with dedicated quiet spaces should guests be in need of a moment of calm.
Sloomoo Institute is located at 157 South Fairfax Avenue, Los Angeles, 90036. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Hours may change, so check the ticketing site for the latest info.
