More than 30 Southern California museums join SoCal Museums Free-for-All day on March 16. The annual event offers free general admission to museums and cultural institutions across Southern California, giving Angelenos of all ages an opportunity to access a wide array of art, film, natural history and more.
“As Los Angeles and Southern California continue to recover after the devastating fires, we hope to offer a space of comfort and connection for people. It is an honor for us to open our collective doors and welcome visitors in to experience the broad range of cultural experiences available in the region. The Museums Free-for-All has become a touchstone for our community, a time to try something new or return to an old favorite,” says Alexa Nishimoto, SoCal Museums President and Marketing Associate, Japanese American National Museum.
Some of our favorite picks for families include La Brea Tar Pits, where kids can run around Hancock Park after exploring inside, Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, which will have a “Drop-in and Draw” session for guests to draw their favorite animated characters and LACMA, where your free admission includes access to all galleries. Best of all, these three museums are part of Museum Row, a stretch of Wilshire Boulevard featuring major L.A. museums within walking distance of each other.
