Bowling and burgers
Let someone else grill at Pinstripes Topanga, the ultimate “eatertainment” hub. Pinstripes normally combines an Italian-American bistro with first class bowling and bocce. In honor of Memorial Day, Pinstripes will boast a brunch buffet featuring juicy burgers, brats, watermelon and a live band.
Memorializing our heroes
On May 24, Sea World will launch its Memorial Day celebration with a flag ceremony to honor our fallen heroes of the U.S. armed forces. There will be live music and a fireworks celebration.
SeaWorld San Diego will also honor Military Appreciation Month with free one-day admission for U.S. military veterans and up to three guests. U.S military veterans and retirees can register for complimentary single-day tickets for themselves and up to three dependents before May 27 at WavesofHonor.com.
Nature hikes
Walk off some of that great food and barbecue at the Family Hike Dilley Sunday May 26. This hike will be moderately easy with some uneven terrain.
The trek does involve steep climbs and descents, so do make sure to bring your hiking shoes.
For the early bird hikers, Irvine Ranch Conservancy will have an early morning hike at the Gypsum Canyon Wilderness from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. May 2. Go and discover the newly opened Gypsum Canyon Wilderness.
Take in its panoramic views of Fremont and Weir Canyon Nature Preserves and beyond to bask in beautiful wildflowers, rock formations and potentially get a glimpse at some wildlife. You will need to register in advance, as there will be no walk-up registrations permitted.
