Super Nintendo fans across the Southland are pumped about a new opportunity to experience their favorite characters at Universal Studios Hollywood.
In mid-February, Super Nintendo World made its first arrival to the U.S. with an immersive experience that pulls guests into the vibrant 360-degree world of Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach, all located in an extended area of Universal Studios. The area features the groundbreaking “Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge” ride, as well as other interactive activities designed to engage the entire family within the captivating Mushroom Kingdom. The new world experience includes themed dining at the Toadstool Café and shopping at the 1-UP Factory retail store.
Located inside Bowser’s Castle, the Mario Kart ride fuses cutting-edge augmented reality (AR) with projection-mapping technology and set pieces along a moving ride track. Set against a multi-sensory backdrop of color, sound and movement, guests are seated in stadium-style, four-seat vehicles as they navigate familiar courses through head-mounted AR goggles.
To take their Super Nintendo World to the next level, guests can purchase the “Power-Up Band,” a wearable, state-of-the-art wristband that syncs with Universal Studios Hollywood’s free downloadable app. Interactive elements available through the band include keeping individual and team scores, collecting digital coins, obtaining keys after winning challenges throughout the land and extra interactions with Super Nintendo characters.
