
Summer is in full swing and that means 4th of July is just around the corner. There’s plenty to do over the holiday weekend, from classic parades, family-friendly block parties or festivals to get in the patriotic spirit. We’ve rounded up some of the best 4th of July events happening across the city to make some lasting memories with your family and friends.
Santa Monica 4th of July Parade
9:30 a.m. Thu, Jul 4 | Ocean Park Library
The 2024 parade returns to its classic route, kicking off promptly at 9:30 a.m. at Pico and Main Street, traveling South on Main Street before turning right onto Marine, ending at Barnard Way.
You can watch the parade anywhere along the Main Street route as classic cars and community organizations make their way to Lot 5 South by the beach. The official parade grandstand will be located in front of the Ocean Park Library at the corner of Ocean Park and Main Street.
This year’s theme is “Celebrating the Arts”. Come in your red, white and blue and enjoy this 4th of July tradition.
Pacific Palisades July 4th Celebration
2 p.m. – 10 p.m. Thu, Jul 4 | Palisades Charter High School
Join the Pacific Palisades celebration for their annual parade, beginning at 2 p.m. followed by music and fireworks show at 9 p.m.
Enjoy food trucks and music, participate in a 5K, 10K, patriotic home decorating and kids on bikes contests and more!
Huntington Beach Independence Day Event
7a.m. – 9 p.m. Thu, Jul 4 | Huntington Beach Pier
Huntington Beach’s annual tradition kicks off with a Surf City Run, which includes a Kids Fun Run and Stroller Run. The Surf City Run 5K begins at 7 a.m. and takes place along the historic route of Main Street and Pacific Coast Highway.
Watch the Fourth of July Parade beginning at 10 a.m. Local businesses, classic cars, the Huntington Beach High School Cheerleaders, the Huntington Beach Mayor, and more put on a show for residents and visitors alike on the Fourth of July. The 2.5-mile route starts on Pacific Coast Highway and makes its way past the Huntington Beach Pier and onto Main Street.
The celebratory tradition of Fireworks Over The Ocean Presented by the Mayer Family Foundation will commence at 9 p.m. All beach viewing is open to the public, with limited paid tickets for reserved seating on the pier.
LAX Coastal Fourth of July Parade
9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. | Westchester Park
LAX Coastal Chamber of Commerce presents the 24th Annual Fourth of July Parade. This year’s theme is “Sounds of Summer.”
The parade will feature lively music and a variety of parade entries that showcase the spirit of our community.
Parade entry starts at 9 a.m. with the parade kicking off at 11 a.m. at the corner of Manchester and Loyola in front of Westchester Park and ending at 80th and Loyola.
The City of Ventura 4th of July Street Fair
10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Thu, Jul 4 | Main Street
The City of Ventura 4th of July Street Fair will be back on Main Street from Fir Street to Ventura Avenue as well as side streets Chestnut, Oak and California.
The street fair features over 100 arts and crafts booths, live entertainment, food trucks, a car exhibit, and family-friendly activities.
Fourth of July Celebration on The Queen Mary
3 p.m. – 10 p.m. Thu, Jul 4 | The Queen Mary
Celebrate an all-American 4th of July aboard The Queen Mary and enjoy a fun-filled day of good food, great entertainment, family games, activities, a World War II aircraft flyover, and a spectacular fireworks show. Entertainment includes patriotic performances, dance off contests, giveaways and more.
July 4th Sunset Sail
6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Thu, Jul 4 | West 6th Street & Harbor Boulevard
Join the Los Angeles Maritime Institute (LAMI) to celebrate Independence Day aboard a tall ship and party like it’s 1776! Plus, you’ll get a waterside view of the visiting Italian tall ship Amerigo Vespucci from the deck of LAMI’s tall ship as they sail the San Pedro Bay. As always, you can sit back and relax or become part of the crew – your choice – and don’t forget a picnic to enjoy.
Grand Park’s 4th of July Block Party
4 p.m. – 9 p.m. Thu, Jul 4 | Gloria Molina Grand Park
A celebration of community, resilience and joy shared among Angelenos who want to build connections, solidarity, allyship and mutual support. This year’s event features arts activities, sports games, live music, and dance, with dozens of L.A.’s favorite food trucks and DJs spanning genres from hip-hop to reggaeton, funk, and more. Enjoy the return of the Gloria Molina Grand Park Ferris Wheel and an innovative drone show by Grizzly Entertainment.
San Fernando Independence Day Festival
4:30pm – 9:30pm Thu, Jul 4 | San Fernando Recreation Park
Join the City of San Fernando for a family-friendly Independence Day Festival, featuring children’s activities, watermelon eating contest, carnival games, food vendors, live music and a patriotic drone show.
Councilmember Bob Blumenfield’s July 4th Extravaganza 2024
6 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Thu, Jul 4 | Warner Park
With one of the most spectacular fireworks displays in Southern California, Councilmember Bob Blumenfield’s July 4th Extravaganza celebrates our nation’s birthday with a free concert and a dazzling 20-minute fireworks display, accommodating up to 40,000 people in the park. Thousands more tune in to view and listen from neighboring residences and community areas. There are over 15 local food trucks on hand along with arts and crafts vendors and local businesses promoting and selling their goods.
4th of July Celebration at The Reagan Library
10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Thu, Jul 4 | The Reagan Library
To celebrate our Nation’s 248th birthday, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is hosting a day full of family-fun activities. This year’s celebration includes patriotic concerts, family entertainment, games, crafts, and more.
All outdoor activities, including the monument unveiling, are free; admission rates apply to view the Ronald Reagan Presidential Museum, Air Force One, and the new special exhibition, Defending America and the Galaxy: Star Wars and SDI.
San Fernando Independence Day Festival
4:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Thu, Jul 4 | San Fernando Recreation Park

Santa Clarita Valley Fourth of July Parade
9 a.m. Thu, Jul 4 | William S. Hart Park
Join Old Town Newhall for their annual Fourth of July Parade. This year’s theme is “The Freedom to Play: Celebrating our Parks, Trails, and Open Space.” Residents are invited to watch the parade as it makes its way from the roundabout in front of William S. Hart Park along Main Street and Lyons Avenue before finishing at Orchard Village Road and Dalbey Drive.
