Since we started 45 years ago, L.A. Parent has worked to be a true partner to our families throughout L.A. County and beyond. Whether you’re searching for the right school, enrichment program or tutor, a summer camp that fits your child’s needs, support with social-skills development, homework routines or virtually anything else that comes with raising kids in Los Angeles, we’re here for you.
For the last 12 years, we’ve also been especially proud to serve families raising neurodiverse children. Our coverage and partnerships have helped make L.A. Parent a trusted leader in this space. We’ve introduced you to exceptional service providers — from schools like The Help Group and Frostig Center to equine-therapy programs, job-training and placement services, independent-living programs and inclusive spaces like Discovery Cube Los Angeles with its Sensory Friendly Mornings. We’ve highlighted community events such as the Autism Speaks Empower Walk and 5K Run, and featured fitness programs we love, including ZOOZ Fitness, We Rock the Spectrum, Leaps n Boundz and others.
Each month, this newsletter showcases people and programs making a meaningful difference — from dedicated advocates at VanamanGerman LLP to unique resources we think every family should know about, including Achievable Health or a workshop that helps young adults learn to date with confidence. You’ll also find some of these stories in the Inclusive L.A. section of our magazine, but this newsletter — arriving the first Wednesday of every month — and our daily-updated website are the best ways to stay connected to everything we’re discovering.
As we look toward the new year, here’s what you can expect from us:
Even more.
We’re building a comprehensive neurodiverse services directory — an easily searchable guide to providers from A to Z, including speech and ABA therapists, regional centers and many more resources. This directory will live on our continuously updated website. Best part? We invite you to share additions, so that this digital hub becomes a true community tool.
We’re also planning an education fair next year. Details are coming soon, and we hope you’ll join us, meet our team and connect with other families.
On behalf of the parents who make up the team at L.A. Parent, thank you for being part of our community. We wish you and your family a happy and healthy new year.
