It’s going to be a hot summer in more ways than one at Dodger Stadium this season. For the first time in four decades, “blue heaven” will host Major League Baseball’s All-Star game.
While All-Star’s main attraction, the Midsummer Classic, will be played on the field on July 19, All-Star Week celebrations will run July 15-19 at the stadium, L.A. Live, the Los Angeles Convention Center and the Santa Monica Pier and beach. Action kicks off on the field July 16 with an exclusive doubleheader — the SiriusXM All-Star futures game for minor league players, followed by the MLB All-Star celebrity softball game, which will feature stars from stage, screen, music, sports and the internet. The futures game has featured some of MLB’s top stars, including Dodgers players Clayton Kershaw and Trea Turner before they became major leaguers.
Activations at L.A. Live will include Capital One Play Ball Park, the world’s biggest baseball and softball festival. The convention center will host the free All-Star block party, featuring interactive games, free giveaways, music, a beer garden and more.
The 2022 MLB draft will take place at “MLB Live” in Downtown L.A. The first round is scheduled July 17at Xbox Plaza in the heart of L.A. Live and will be televised on MLB Network. The 30 MLB clubs will be represented by former players and club officials.
