The holidays in L.A. are always a fun time. From festive theatrical performances and ice skating rinks, to holiday markets and fairs and the best light displays, you and your family could experience a different event every day as you count down to the New Year. With so many festivities around town, sometimes we need a little guidance—that’s where we come in. We’ve rounded up our favorite places to visit before the year ends.

Christmas trees

If you don’t have a tree yet, it’s not too late. Take a trip to one of Mr. Jingles Christmas Trees lots, open in Hollywood, West LA, Woodland Hills, Torrance and the Original Farmers Market through Dec. 24. The family-owned business gets their Christmas trees from Oregon, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Canada, ranging in height from 2 feet tall to over 25 feet tall.

Entrance to the lots are free, so you can just browse the rows of trees and breathe in that sweet, Christmas tree scent. Food and drink are also available at some locations. But if you want to take that scent home with you, find your perfect tree and a staff member will help tie down the tree to your car for free or help you arrange delivery service. You can also get wreaths, garlands and any tree accessories like stands, lights and ornaments.

When you’re ready to say goodbye to the holidays and hello to the New Year, Mr. Jingles offers tree removal service. They come to you, remove the water, the tree and vacuum inside. Pricing for removal depends on tree size.

Visit Underwood Family Farms for the holidays through Dec. 24 and pick out a fresh cut tree, or wreath or garland, at Big Wave Dave’s Christmas Trees. Make a whole day out of it and enjoy holiday photo ops, arts and crafts, wagon rides and more holiday fun during your visit.

Santa sightings

Santa gets a new sleigh ride at The Americana at Brand and The Grove through Dec. 25. Wave hello to Santa Claus as he rides along on a festive trolley every night at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Santa sightings will be accompanied by snowfall and brass band performances for the full magical experience.

Visit Santa’s Workshop at The Collection at RiverPark through Dec. 24 for a keepsake photo with Santa. Santa will have his workshop table between him and his guests for a safe, no-contact photo. For more seasonal fun, try to find all of the hidden gingerbread houses in the Gingerbread Scavenger Hunt through Dec. 20 and win a holiday surprise.

Visit Santa at Heritage Square Museum before catching a movie on the big screen Dec. 18-26 (except Dec. 24-25). Street Food Cinema’s Yuletide Cinemaland features holiday favorites like “Home Alone” and “Elf” along with food trucks, mulled wine, sing-alongs and more.

Snap a photo with Santa at Westfield Topanga or Westfield Culver City through Dec. 24 and stay for some last-minute holiday shopping. Photo packages start at $19.99.

You can also visit Mr. Clause at Santa’s North Pole Journey at Westfield Century City. Make a reservation for self-serve photo opportunities on Santa’s North Pole Journey, which features private access into Santa’s bungalow, an interactive magic mirror, Santa’s carriage, Snowfall and a special postcard to mail to Santa at the Post Office. Tickets start at $55.

Snow in L.A.

Join L.A. County Parks & Recreation for Parks After Dark Winter Wonderland, featuring holiday cheer and 40 tons of snow! Visit one of the 33 participating L.A. County parks Dec. 17 and 18 for free wintery activities like a sled hill, snow play area, holiday crafts, hot cocoa station, Santa visits and more. Every child gets a free filled holiday stocking while supplies last.

Westfield Topanga & Village are hosting plenty of holiday fun for San Fernando Valley families, including a Winter Wonderland. Now through Dec. 23, visit The Village for “Let It Snow” snow shows at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Enjoy keepsake photo moments at the Santa Magic experience.
