After limited runs in Rome, Paris, Milan, Madrid, New York and more major cities across Europe and the U.S., Balloon Museum brings its award-winning contemporary art exhibition “Let’s Fly” to Ace Mission Studios in Downtown Los Angeles from Oct. 30 through March 16, 2025. All the installations encourage viewers to become participants in some way, creating a fun and interactive museum experience for all ages.
Featuring installations by 21 world-renowned artists including Oakland, CA-based LED artist Christopher Schardt. His Mariposa installation, a large-scale butterfly sculpture illuminated with over 39,000 full-color LEDs, which debuted at Burning Man in 2023, is Balloon Museum’s newest work. Other installations include Cyril Lancelin’s “Flying Maze,” a giant inflatable maze where visitors can wind their way through or hide and Karina Smigla-Bobinski’s “ADA,” a PVC sphere inflated with helium and covered in charcoal sticks that make markings on the floors, walls and ceiling as it moves freely in space.
The final installation lets visitors fully immerse themselves in inflatable worlds with artist Sila Sveta’s “Airscape,” a whimsical virtual reality journey designed specifically for the Balloon Museum. Before exiting the museum, a series of colorful photo backdrops make for great family photos or your next profile picture!
