‘Tis the season for the famous ballet set to Tchaikovsky’s famous score. We’ve rounded up some of the best places to delight in sugar plum fairies and ballerinas around town.
American Contemporary Ballet’s version, The Nutcracker Suite, performs to live music inside a snow-filled Land of Sweets from its new Hollywood performance space, which features signature city views. The immersive production performs Thursdays through Sundays Nov. 26 – Dec. 24. $25 – $140.
Beverly Center will host a family-friendly walk-through experience, The Immersive Nutcracker, Nov. 26 – Dec. 31. This twist on the holiday classic combines theatre, VR and projection. For ages 6 and up. $42 for adults, $30 for children.
Westside Ballet of Santa Monica returns to The Broad Stage for a limited engagement of The Nutcracker Nov. 27-28 and Dec. 3-4. $50.
Bob Baker’s Marionette Theater presents their marionette adaptation of the ballet classic Nov. 27 – Jan. 9. Following the show guests are invited to partake in their tradition of ice cream for everyone. $20.
Pacific Symphony’s “Nutcracker for Kids!” with Festival Ballet Theatre presents a 45-minute version of the holiday ballet on Dec. 4. at Segerstrom Center for the Arts, which finishes with a visit from Santa Claus. $35-$68.
The Los Angeles Ballet’s production gives a SoCal twist with its version set in 1912 L.A. The ballet will perform weekends Dec. 4-26 at various locations throughout the city, including Royce Hall at UCLA and Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. $36-$114.
The Orange County Ballet Theater performs an 80-minute version of the holiday classic, “Casa Nutcracker,” Dec. 9-10 at Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens in San Clemente. $30-$40.
Segerstrom Center for the Arts presents American Ballet Theatre’s version with an international all-star cast and students from Segerstrom Center’s American Ballet Theatre William J. Gillespie School. Dec. 10-12 and Dec. 15-19. $30 and up.
Festival Ballet Theatre will also perform a family-friendly production of The Nutcracker at the Irvine Barclay Theatre Dec. 11 – 24 with colorful scenery and dazzling costumes, which will delight audiences of all ages. $35-$60.
The Red Chair Productions’ rendition, which features young performers ages 7-18 along with adults, performs at The Alex Theatre in Glendale on Dec. 11 and 12. $10-$60.
Long Beach Ballet presents The NutcrackerDec. 17-19 at the Long Beach Terrace Theater with a full symphony orchestra. $34-$78.
