The only way an organization can continue helping others and serving its mission is through support from others. Individuals, businesses and organizations in the community choosing to support the non-profit charity help make it possible for them to continue their work. Miracles for Kids is celebrating 20 years of community support that has helped the organization continue its mission of helping children with life-threatening illnesses.
“The ongoing support we get from the community is everything,” explains Autumn Strier, co-founder of Miracles for Kids. “We could not do what we do without the support we have received over the last 20 years. We are grateful for so much support that we have had the opportunity to help so many families.”
Launched in 2004, Miracles for Kids was created to help families who are struggling due to their child’s life-threatening illness or condition. Over the last 20 years, they have helped families by helping them pay essential bills, providing pro-bono medical care for uninsured family members, providing long-term housing assistance, delivering monthly baskets and boxes to help supply families with basic food needs and hosting wellness activities for families.
The organization has helped more than 2,100 families in the last 20 years. Efforts have been possible through donations from more than 10,000 donors and 30 corporate partnerships. Some standout supporters include:
- Assistance League of Orange. Since 2018, this organization offered community partnership that brings volunteers to Miracle Manor twice monthly. The volunteers help provide dinner, activities and cleanup days to those using the housing program. Every summer, they give the families catered lunches, face painting, balloon animals, ice cream and more. During the pandemic, they delivered groceries to families and provided emergency rental assistance to families.
- Ashmore Construction is an instrumental donor for the operations of Miracle Manor, Basket of Miracles and storage for the organization. Based in the city of Orange, the company has donated countless hours to assist with property maintenance and repairs at Miracle Manor to ensure families a safe and stable living environment. Every year, it donates to provide Halloween costumes to every child, treats for the families and to decorate the property for the holidays.
- National Charity League. This organization has been a pillar of support, from delivering food and essential household items throughout Orange County with the Basket and Box of Miracles programs to heart-warming holiday decorating, family movie nights, game nights and cleanup efforts at Miracle Manor to celebrating birthdays with critically-ill children at Birthday Bash of Miracles and summer Surf & Paddle camp. In addition, volunteers donate wellness kits, birthday goodies and kindness cards. Miracles for Kids stands hand-in-hand with five esteemed chapters of the National Charity League – Orange/Villa Park, North Tustin, Capistrano Coast, Laguna Beach and Saddleback Valley.
- Lion’s Heart. The bond with this organization is one of camaraderie and compassion. High school volunteers dedicate time throughout the year to help families in various ways, including Miracle Manor family board game nights, which foster shared moments of friendly competition, engaging in fun outdoor sports, doodling chalk masterpieces or simply sharing a laugh to providing invaluable assistance with setup, support and deliveries at Basket of Miracles.
“What we do is truly a community effort, and we are humbled to have had such amazing support for two decades,” Strier says. “We look forward to many more years of being able to help people.”
