Nothing quite captures the spirit of summer like a splash in the pool, a rooftop movie or even a delicious meal from a hot new restaurant. We’ve compiled a list of exciting new events, restaurants and activities going on this summer.
Dining Destinations
BITES @ BEV
Bevs @ Bev is the fourth Thursday of every month, starting on June 23 until Oct. 27 at the Beverly Center. This event includes your choice of beverages alongside fun games and music from the hottest DJs. Each ticket includes two signature cocktails or mocktails from Beverly Center restaraunts’ mixologist, plus beer and wine.
Sandbar Huntington Beach
Visitors and locals alike are invited to wine and dine at Sandbar Huntington Beach. The new and elevated Mexican food plus creative cocktail bar concept opened its doors in downtown Huntington Beach on June 9.
Pacific Hideaway Chef’s Table
Every other month, Pacific Hideaway, Kimpton Shorebreak Resort’s signature restaurant, hosts its “Chef’s Table” series with a curated themed menu coupled with wine, beer and cocktail pairings. The next one takes place on the eve of Huntington Beach’s biggest surfing event, the U.S. Open of Surfing, and will partner with local Surf City brewer Four Sons Brewing. This unique experience is open on July 29.
Rosy Café

A hidden oasis behind Tropicana Pool, the brand-new Rosy Café allows guests to dine al fresco under the palm trees. Executive Chef Alessandro Serni serves Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine all-day including brunch, lunch, and dinner, and will introduce a fresh juice bar this summer. This fun cafe is inspired by the South of France and its fun bohemian color choices.
Signature Summer Events
The US Open of Surfing
Acclaimed as the world’s largest surfing competition, the weeklong U.S. Open of Surfing returns July 30 on the south side of the iconic Huntington Beach Pier. For seven sun-soaked days, people from across the globe will convene on the sands of Huntington Beach to watch the world’s best surfers compete. The event coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Surfers’ Hall of Fame, with 2022 honorees Peter Mel, Martin Daly and Michele Turner being inducted on Aug. 5 at 9 a.m. at the foot of the pier.
Descanso Gardens
Last year’s wilderness party at Descanso Gardens was so epic KCRW is coming back again this year. Don’t miss the chance to catch the one and only KCRW Summer Nights at Descanso Gardens with KCRW DJ Jeremy Sole and plant enthusiast Anthony Valadez. Located in La Cañada Flintridge, Descanso Gardens is a unique Southern California forested landscape distinguished by its specialized botanical collections, historical significance, and rare natural beauty. Escape to a night under the stars in LA’s magical oasis on Aug. 13.
Bowers Museum
Bowers Museum KCRW is excited for its brand-new partnership with the Bowers Museum for one special Summer Nights featuring live sets from KCRW DJs José Gavlán & Francesca Harding, a beer garden pop-up by Blinking Owl Distillery, kids activities and more. Sunday, Aug. 28 marks the last day to check out the Bowers Museum’s current exhibition, “Everest: Ascent to Glory.”
Summer shows and experiences
Dudamel and Paris Opera Ballet
Stars of the Paris Opera Ballet perform classic and contemporary ballet repertoire on the Hollywood Bowl stage for the first time. Featuring glorious accompaniments by Dudamel And Paris Opera Ballet and the LA Phil preeminent dancers of the Paris Opera Ballet perform exquisite works by renowned choreographers including Rudolf Nureyev, William Forsythe, Angelin Preljocaj, Sharon Eyal and more. This event takes place July 20 and 21 at 8 p.m.
Well Dressed Comedy Shows
The classiest standup show in LA comes to Roosevelt Theater on June 17, July 22, and August 26. Guests are encouraged to dress to the nines for an evening of world-class jazz and top-notch stand up from comics seen on Netflix, Amazon, E!, NBC, and more!
The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle
Beginning today, “The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle” returns with a dazzling light and special effects projection display set against the backdrop of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. As night falls on Hogsmeade village, guests can enjoy an awe-inspiring spectacle that showcases the four houses of Hogwarts: Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin, accompanied by a special musical arrangement based on original scores from the film series.
Special Effects Show
This summer also sees the return of the “Special Effects Show,” a fast-paced and entertaining behind-the-scenes peek at the world of Hollywood movie-making magic. The Special Effects Show will run daily from July 1 through Aug. 14, then weekends only, beginning Aug. 20.
MacArthur Park Free Concerts
Levitt Los Angeles is thrilled to announce its 15th season of summer performances in MacArthur Park that continues to reflect the cultural mosaic of Los Angeles with an outstanding lineup. The electrifying 2022 lineup features international greats as well as LA’s own superstar talents performing a wide variety of genres including cumbia, rock, soul, ska, salsa, electronic dance music, Hip-Hop, folklorico music from Mexico, Central & South America, and more. Levitt LA’s concerts will once again transform MacArthur Park into a sonically-charged urban oasis featuring free live music under the stars from June 18 through Sept. 4.

WATCH @ BEV
The first Thursday of every month, Watch @ Bev features your favorite films on screen in Grand Court. Tickets include a seat in Grand Court, with two signature, hand-shaken cocktails or mocktails from artisanal mixologist Mama’s Medicine. Plus treats. Before the show, visit one of the participating Watch @ Bev restaurants for special to-go menu options to bring with you while you watch! This event occurs from July 7 through Oct. 6. Rooftop Cinema Club Arts
Grab the kids for an al-fresco movie experience at the brand new Rooftop Cinema Club Arts District. This rooftop features comfy Bohemian style chairs from Article, four murals by local artist Caia Diepenbrock and a beautiful floral wall, perfect for family photos. The movie experience starts an hour before the show with interactive lawn games such as corn hole and giant Jenga to enjoy. Concession stands sell popcorn, candy, and an array of movie snacks, which adults can pair with a locally crafted beer or fresh spritz, and kids can enjoy delicious summer beverages. Family-friendly films are scheduled before 4:30 p.m. , including “Grease: Sing-Along”, “Spider-man: No Way Home”, “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore”, “The Sandlot, Monsters, Inc”., and series celebrating the heat of summer, the start of Leo season, and the month of Harry Potter’s birthday.

Sunset Yoga & Yoga on the Bridge
Licensed yogi Mary De Caro teaches Sunset Yoga for all levels on the rooftop of The Roosevelt every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and Yoga on the Bridge every Saturday at 10 a.m. throughout summer.
Outdoor Massage Garden
Rejuvenating massage treatments are available in the open-air, bohemian-style Massage Garden, just steps away from Tropicana Pool, where guests can lounge and have lunch after. Treatments are available from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. by appointment only.
