Every November and December Angelinos of all ages look forward to the countless holiday light events throughout our city, including Descanso Gardens’ “Enchanted Forest of Light.” From Nov. 17 through Jan. 5, 2025, the La Cañada Flintridge garden will be lit up with unique displays and whimsical installations. Set to magical music and the backdrop of Descanso Gardens’ natural beauty, “Enchanted Forest of Light,” is the perfect family-friendly event to get everyone into the holiday spirit.
New this year is Descanso Railroad, miniature model trains and landscapes, which will be lit up for the holiday season. This is also where LA Parent shot our cover photo for the November/December issue.
Returning favorites include HYBYCOZO’s 3-D geometric sculptures and the beautifully lit Ancient Forest. The full moon once again hangs over Mulberry Pond, artist Tom Fruin’s stained-glass houses invite visitors inside the illuminated structures and the Flower Power installation on the Promenade welcomes moments of meditation.
Always a hit with the kids is the Symphony of Oaks installation, where you might find yourself momentarily stalled as the mesmerizing sounds and lights that surround each oak tree will capture the attention of your little ones for a while. Children also love the amphitheater at Luminous Lawn where more whimsical music and lights invite budding performers to take center stage. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy your hot chocolate, churro or other warm treat available at kiosks throughout the garden before moving through the rest of the installations.

Enchanted runs daily Nov. 17 through Jan. 5 (closed Nov. 28 and Dec. 24-25), with timed entry from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. $15-45 for adults; $10-30 for children ages 2-12; free for children under 2. Descanso Gardens is located at 1418 Descanso Dr, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011.
